Securi-Tay V is an Information Security conference held by the Abertay Ethical Hacking Society and supported by Abertay University, Dundee.

The conference is now in its fifth year (hence the V), and is now a two day event held on February 26th and 27th, 2016.

Portcullis will be sponsoring the Securi-Tay V after party hosted at the Abertay Students’ Union.

In addition, we’re also pleased to announce that Portcullis will be sending not one, not two but three of our senior consultants to speak this year. The three presentations will be Graham Sutherland on detecting virtualised hosts, Jerzy Kramarz on insecurities in the SCADA world and Tim Brown on combining Red Teaming and DevOps. We are pleased to announce that two of our security consultants, Graham Sutherland and Tim Brown, will be presenting at the upcoming BSides London security conference on the 29th of April.

BSides London is an annual community-driven security conference which, this year, will be taking place at the Kensington and Chelsea Town Hall in London.

Graham’s talk coincides with the disclosure of a set of vulnerabilities in the administration features of the Citrix NetScaler appliance, which will be discussed in the talk. Continue reading


Dr. Michael Westmacott of Portcullis Security, will be speaking on Cyber Crime and its effects on the UK economy at the Labour and Conservative party autumn conferences. The meetings are sponsored by the British Computer Society (BCS), ‘The Chartered Institute for IT’, which is hosting fringe events entitled “Cyber Crime: Our biggest emerging threat?”

In a recent ‘The Cost of Cyber Crime’ report, the government estimated Cyber Crime costs the UK economy around £27bn a year. Businesses paid around £21bn, the Government £2.2bn and citizens £3.1bn (Gov.uk, 2011). Continue reading

White Hat Rally are this year adopting the theme of pirates and smugglers with a stunning long weekend of fun, challenges and driving in Pieces of V8!White Hat Rally 2013

The event is being held 21-23 June 2013 and is open to anyone and everyone aged 18 or over. Teams will require a non-commercial vehicle with four wheels and a sense of humour for the pirates and smugglers fancy dress, and antics to match.

Starting near Exeter and taking in miles of scenic countryside on small windy roads, the route will be challenging and include many of the amazing sights and attractions that Devon has to offer.

On-site registration will take place near Exeter on the evening of Thursday 20 June 2013 and the event will finish on the afternoon of Sunday 23 June 2013. Portcullis will also be taking part in this years event. Especially since we have won the best designed car since the events inception in 2009. Continue reading
